Literature Text

“Come with me, my precious,
Just for one night.
See what I see.
Die not from fright.”
Often, I have heard these words,
Even if only from a dream.
But what scares me is the truth,
From the eyes of red gleam.
I follow these voices,
Though I no not where we head.
Through the trees of dark,
Across the fields of dead.
I wander through the meadows.
Fire burning black and red.
Past the alleys of dark,
Seeing memories that have fled.
Across the valley of broken glass,
A house of which I see.
And there, oh look, there she is.
The child beneath the tree.
The valley ends in silence
As I enter the yard of dolls.
Like a loose petal of a flower,
The child’s tear falls.
Walking up to her, I smile.
She looks up and cries.
And lo, I hear the shot.
As the flower dies.
With a start I cry,
And wake up in bed.
The dream is gone, but it’s too late.
The inner child is dead.
It came to me while i was at work... i fixed it up at home.
Let me know what you think.
